This has been a tough week for little Judah Buddha. We're still not sure what the problem was, but he cried for almost two days straight, went on a nursing strike, went crazy every time I tried to put him to sleep, and was generally miserable. Gammy Hayes suggested it might be first year molars starting to make their way in, and she's probably right. On Friday, as a huge answer to our prayers Thursday night, Judah woke up as his normal self...eating, sleeping and perfectly happy.
It's blazing hot here in Beijing, so we've been trying to get over to the beautiful swimming pool in a neighboring apartment complex almost every day. Judah LOVES the water...to the point that I'm starting to think maybe he should have a bit more of a healthy fear for it, but we're sure that will come later.
We just received the news that two of Judah's favorite people - Auntie Stacey and Uncle Derek - will be leaving Beijing in September (we'll be gone all of August, and they're going down to find an apartment next week, so this is our last full week together) to move onto the clean, orderly, beautiful island of Singapore. Derek just started an EMBA with the University of Chicago's Singapore location, and was able to transfer down to an Ogilvy office there. After six years together in Beijing, it's impossible to describe how much they will be missed, but we look forward to visiting!
