First of all - in case anyone is wondering "sayonara" is a Japanese, not Chinese, word meaning "goodbye".
Secondly - Beijing feels like one of the most transient places on earth during the summer. Every June there is a mass exodus of people moving away to destinations across the globe. Those that aren't moving usually evacuate for at least a month at a time to allow their lungs to rejuvenate themselves. Then at the end of the summer a boatload of newbies drift in before school starts. By Chinese New Year these people consider themselves experts on all things China only to figure out about four years later that they in fact they will never fully understand anything about the country.
Our little lion has not been spared these goodbyes, as two (of seven) of his little birth buddies are leaving this summer. Silke (a Danish girl friend) is moving to Singapore and Alexander is moving back to Norway. They (and their Mamas) will be missed! Here are some pictures from Silke's one year birthday and goodbye party and some other photos from earlier play dates.
